It serves as the home of the Lansing Lugnuts, a beloved minor league baseball team that draws passionate crowds throughout the season. The role of Line Cook at Lansing Lugnuts (Jackson Field) is a part-time position that offers an hourly wage ranging from $17.00 to $19.00. This position plays a critical role in delivering high-quality food products that enhance the guest experience during events. The Line Cook is responsible for preparing hot and cold foods efficiently and according to company recipes and portion guidelines. The individual in this role must maintain excellent attendance and flexibility to work as per the event schedule, often contributing to a fast-paced and team-oriented environment. The Line Cook often interacts directly with guests in various settings such as buffet lines and made-to-order stations, ensuring friendly, timely service and presentation that aligns with the venue’s high standards.
In addition to food preparation, the Line Cook will be engaged in maintaining health, safety, and sanitation standards in the kitchen and food preparation areas. They must also monitor and report any equipment maintenance needs to ensure smooth operation. Working closely with the Executive Chef, Sous Chef, or Kitchen Supervisor, the Line Cook contributes to menu planning and food consumption forecasting, emphasizing teamwork and proactive communication. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in cooking or food preparation preferred
- Ability to operate standard kitchen equipment
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Valid food handling certification if required by state and federal law
- Availability to work flexible hours including events
- Strong attendance record
Job Qualifications
- Previous cook or prep cook experience highly preferred
- Able to operate standard kitchen equipment including broiler, steamer, convection oven, mixer, meat slicer, and chef knife
- Effective communication skills with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management, and guests
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment
- Possess a valid food handling certificate if required by state and federal regulations
- ServSafe certification preferred
Job Duties
- Prepare high-quality fresh food products promptly for guest service
- Prepare hot and cold foods following company recipes and portion requirements
- Collaborate as a team member to ensure excellent service and product delivery
- Report kitchen equipment maintenance needs
- Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas
- Observe and test foods to ensure proper cooking
- Portion, arrange, and garnish food plates for guest delivery
- Consult with Executive Chef, Sous Chef, or Kitchen Supervisor for menu planning and food consumption estimation
- Maintain excellent attendance and availability for scheduled events
