The Line Cook position at the Lansing Lugnuts (Jackson Field) is a regular part-time role that offers an hourly wage ranging between $17.00 and $19.00. This role is critical to ensuring guests enjoy freshly prepared, high-quality food during events and games hosted at the venue. As a Line Cook, you will play a significant role in food preparation tasks including slicing, portioning, cooking, and garnishing dishes according to company recipes and standards. In addition to preparing food, the Line Cook interacts with patrons in various capacities, often working in high-visibility areas such as buffet lines, and must maintain professional, courteous communication with guests and team members. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • previous cooking or food preparation experience highly desirable
  • food handling certificate if required by state or federal law
  • ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks
  • able to work flexible hours including nights and weekends
  • excellent attendance record
  • effective communication skills
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Job Qualifications

  • Previous cook or prep cook experience highly preferred
  • able to operate standard kitchen equipment including broiler, steamer, convection oven, mixer, meat slicer, chef knife
  • ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management, and guests
  • able to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment
  • possess a valid food handling certificate if required
  • ServSafe preferred

Job Duties

  • Provide high-quality fresh food products timely for guest service
  • prepare hot and cold foods following company recipes and portion requirements
  • participate as a team player in preparation, service, and product delivery
  • report maintenance needs for kitchen equipment
  • maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards
  • observe and test foods to ensure proper cooking
  • portion, arrange, and garnish food plates for guest delivery
  • consult with Executive Chef, Sous Chef or Kitchen Supervisor to plan menus and estimate food consumption
  • demonstrate excellent attendance
