The Lansing Lugnuts, a minor league baseball team, play their home games at Jackson Field, a premier baseball facility located in downtown Lansing, Michigan. The venue accommodates over 12,000 fans and serves as a vibrant hub for local sports and entertainment. Oak View Group operates Jackson Field, ensuring high standards for guest services, venue management, and food and beverage operations.
The Line Cook role at the Lansing Lugnuts (Jackson Field) is a part-time, hourly position that plays a pivotal role in delivering fresh, high-quality food to guests attending events at the venue. The position offers a competitive hourly rate of $17.00 to $19.00. The Line Cook is primarily responsible for preparing a variety of hot and cold dishes according to company recipes and portioning standards. This role is essential in maintaining food quality, presentation, and timely delivery in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment.
Working as a Line Cook at Jackson Field means you will often have direct contact with guests, contributing to their positive event experience by ensuring meals are prepared and presented with care and professionalism. The position requires teamwork, communication skills, and adherence to strict sanitation, health, and safety standards. The Line Cook will work closely with kitchen supervisors, executive chefs, and other culinary team members to prepare menu items that meet the expectations of the venue and its patrons.

Successful candidates will possess previous cooking or prep cooking experience, the ability to operate standard kitchen equipment such as broilers, steamers, convection ovens, mixers, meat slicers, and chef knives, and may need to hold a valid food handling certificate or ServSafe certification according to state and federal regulations.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous cook or prep cook experience highly preferred
- Ability to operate standard kitchen equipment
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
- Possess or be able to obtain valid food handling certification if required by state and federal regulations
- Availability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and event days
Job Qualifications
- Previous cook or prep cook experience highly preferred
- Able to operate standard kitchen equipment, including the broiler, steamer, convection oven, mixer, meat slicer, and chef knife
- Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff, and guests in a clear, business-like, and respectful manner that focuses on generating a positive, enthusiastic, and cooperative work environment
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment
- Possess a valid food handling certificate if required by state and federal regulations
- ServSafe preferred
Job Duties
- Responsible for providing high-quality, fresh food products in a timely manner for delivery to guests
- Prepares hot and cold foods following company recipes and portioning requirements
- Participates as a team player with specific responsibilities as related to preparation, excellent service, and delivery of product
- Responsible for reporting any maintenance required for kitchen equipment
- Maintains sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas
- Responsible for observing and testing foods to ensure proper cooking
- Responsible for portioning, arranging, and garnishing food plates for delivery to guests
- Responsible for consulting with Executive Chef, Sous Chef or Kitchen Supervisor to plan menus and estimate expected food consumption
- Show demonstrated ability to meet the company standard for excellent attendance
