One of OVG’s prominent venues, located on the scenic Mississippi Coast, is Keesler Federal Park in Biloxi, Mississippi. Opened in 2015 as MGM Park, this stadium is the home of the Double-A Biloxi Shuckers, a Southern League baseball team affiliated with the Milwaukee Brewers. The park seats over 6,000 guests and offers a captivating game-day atmosphere featuring reserved seating, luxury suites, open-air party decks, and advanced amenities such as a 1,472-square-foot scoreboard. Keesler Federal Park is celebrated for its connection to Biloxi’s rich seafood heritage, reflected in the Shuckers’ team identity and fan culture. The position of Kitchen Lead at Keesler Federal Park is a part-time role with a competitive hourly wage ranging between $18.00 and $22.00. This position is vital to the venue’s food and beverage operations, ensuring guests receive top-quality meals prepared according to the company’s high standards. The Kitchen Lead supervises kitchen staff, oversees culinary preparation, and maintains operational excellence in kitchen workflows. Their responsibilities include cooking meats, soups, and sauces, as well as training new staff and maintaining food safety standards.

As a Kitchen Lead, you will play a key role in creating an exceptional guest experience by delivering fresh, well-prepared food quickly and efficiently. Your leadership will contribute to cost control measures and operational smoothness, while maintaining cleanliness and compliance with health regulations. This opportunity allows you to work in an energetic, fast-paced environment where teamwork and dedication are essential. You’ll collaborate closely with the Executive Chef and Sous Chef to plan menus and manage inventory, ensuring that every event or game day runs seamlessly.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous kitchen supervisory experience
  • Culinary training or equivalent work experience in a fast-paced kitchen
  • Ability to work part-time hours including event schedules
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Food handling certification if required by state and federal law
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality

Job Qualifications

  • Professional training through culinary education or working in a fast-paced fine dining restaurant or catering facility is required
  • Previous experience working in a supervisory capacity in a kitchen required
  • Ability to supervise kitchen staff
  • Able to operate standard kitchen equipment including broiler, steamer, convection oven, mixer, meat slicer, and chef's knife
  • Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff, and guests in a clear, business-like, and respectful manner
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment
  • Possess a valid food handling certificate if required by state and federal regulations

Job Duties

  • Coordinate and supervise the work of kitchen staff
  • Display knowledge of culinary preparation skills and teach others proper preparation and food presentation
  • Assist in controlling food and labor costs
  • Conduct regular inspections of all locations to ensure cleanliness and maintenance meet company standards
  • Assist with monthly inventory
  • Provide high-quality, fresh food products in a timely manner for delivery to guests
  • Prepare hot and cold foods following company recipes and portioning requirements
