The Events Manager position at PeoplesBank Arena in Hartford, Connecticut, is an exciting full-time opportunity with an annual salary range of $60,000 to $70,000. The role involves overseeing every aspect of assigned events from the initial planning phases through event completion. This includes managing a wide variety of arena events such as Hartford Wolf Pack hockey games, UConn basketball games, concerts, and family shows. The Events Manager acts as a key liaison between facility clients and operational staff, ensuring coordination across departments including audio/visual, telecommunications, maintenance, security, marketing, and custodial services. Responsibilities also include preparing event layouts, communicating setup requirements, submitting service requests, resolving venue compliance issues, and maintaining effective relationships among internal teams and external partners.
This position demands dynamic leadership as the manager will serve as the facility representative at events, enforcing policies and protocols while addressing issues promptly to ensure smooth operations. The role also involves coordinating with municipal officials for security, staffing IATSE union stagehands, scheduling emergency services, and managing financial event estimations and settlements. Critical to the position is the ability to improve operational processes continuously to enhance efficiency, customer satisfaction, and seamless service delivery. The Events Manager must be prepared to work a flexible schedule that includes nights, weekends, and holidays to meet the demands of high-profile events. Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in event management, sports administration, public relations, marketing, business administration, or a related field
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in direct support of events in a public assembly facility or related field
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
- Must have computer skills in Microsoft Office applications and word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentations, and internet software
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to occasionally lift heavy objects
- Possession of or ability to obtain a current CPR certificate preferred
- Ability to provide exceptional customer service even in stressful situations
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Plan, service, and manage a variety of arena events, including Hartford Wolf Pack hockey games, UConn basketball games, concerts, and family shows
- Meet with facility clients to determine event needs
- Provide information and direction to operations and support staff, including audio/visual, telecommunications, setup, custodial, maintenance, security, and marketing personnel
- Prepare drawings, layouts, diagrams, instructions, and supporting documentation for each event and distribute them to appropriate staff
- Submit service requests to schedule event staff according to client needs
- Resolve setup changes and ensure compliance with fire, building, and safety codes
- Serve as facility representative at events, enforce policies, identify and resolve event problems and public complaints
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, contractors, and facility users
- Communicate with municipal officials, police, fire, medical, event staff, and the public to ensure security and smooth event operation
- Assist with building preparation for upcoming events
- Complete pre-show financial estimates and post-show settlements
- Guide event staff in performance and patron issue resolution
- Continuously improve operations to streamline processes and enhance customer service
- Execute event contracts and rental agreements
- Liaise between facility users and staff
- Prepare written event evaluations and cost estimates
- Maintain accurate event files and records
- Participate in internal and external committees
- Create and distribute detailed data sheets prior to events
- Assist with staffing and scheduling of IATSE union stagehand labor
- Schedule EMS, fire, police, event staff, and security as needed
- Coordinate with Finance/Payroll to ensure timely payment of applicable parties
- Coordinate service needs with Food and Beverage department
- Serve as Manager on Duty as scheduled
- Work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Perform other duties as required
