The full-time Event Sales Associate role at Utah Valley Convention Center is a critical position within the company’s event management team. This position focuses on booking a diverse range of events through a strategic sales program, primarily targeting corporate clients. Compensation for this role is competitive with an hourly wage ranging from $23.00 to $25.00. As an Event Sales Associate, you will play an essential role in managing a significant account base of potential and existing clients. Your responsibilities will include negotiating rates and terms with clients, coordinating with internal departments to facilitate successful event bookings, conducting venue tours, and promoting the Utah Valley Convention Center’s unique amenities and services. This role requires effective communication and collaboration skills to liaise not only with clients but also with hotel and tourism partners to support seamless event execution.

Your workday will involve a mix of sales prospecting activities such as phone calls and emails, preparing detailed event contracts and proposals, booking arrangements, and maintaining comprehensive client notes within the CRM booking system, Momentus. You will also be responsible for attending industry events and trade shows to represent the venue and build relationships with potential clients. The Event Sales Associate must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and equipped with excellent customer service skills to ensure a smooth transition from contract signing to event execution with the events team.

Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with coursework in business, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1-2+ years of event sales experience in a convention center, public assembly venue, or hotel preferred
  • Understanding of the events industry with ability to identify space needs
  • Proficient knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Comfortable making sales calls on the phone
  • Multitask-oriented, organized, detail-oriented, and focused on customer service
  • Professional communication and appearance
  • Office experience with phone and general office equipment
  • Accurate financial and detailed reporting

Job Duties

  • Meet specified revenue goals and objectives defined for the sales team
  • Promote the Convention Center to all potential clients
  • Conduct venue tours, answer questions, and provide information regarding venue services, policies, and procedures
  • Assist clients in finalizing booking arrangements
  • Maintain a large account base of customers within the assigned market
  • Plan and organize events initially with clients during the contracting phase
  • Supply the Events Team with adequate notes and information for an easy transition after the client signs the contract
  • Set appointments and make outside calls to potential clients
  • Daily prospecting by making phone calls and sending emails
  • Prepare event contracts and proposals for clients
  • Research and identify appropriateness of groups for the venue
  • Attend industry events and tradeshows
  • Enter and maintain complete and accurate information into CRM booking system
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients and partners
  • Make verbal presentations to groups of various sizes
  • Communicate and work seamlessly with hotel and tourism partners
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as required
