The Event Manager position is based at the prestigious PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a prime entertainment venue that serves as the regional epicenter for athletic events, concerts, and family shows in Western Pennsylvania. The arena is notably home to the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins, hosting a wide variety of events that draw large crowds and internationally recognized performers. As an Event Manager, the selected candidate will play a critical role in ensuring seamless execution and high-quality management of events held at the arena. This full-time role offers a competitive salary ranging from $45,000 to $50,000 annually, along with bonus eligibility.

In this position, the Event Manager will provide professional services to the building management team and promoter representatives, guaranteeing that all requirements for sporting events, concerts, family shows, concert VIPs, and private events are met efficiently within various spaces throughout the arena. The manager will oversee and supervise event staff involved in event setup and execution, promoting best practices that elevate service excellence and operational efficiency. Coordination with event representatives is fundamental in this role, ensuring clear communication and smooth logistics for successful outcomes.

Additional responsibilities include monitoring facility operations on event days, maintaining compliance with operational policies and procedures, and developing innovative concepts, rules, and policies for private events while adhering to budget constraints. This role requires strong organizational, planning, and interpersonal skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously and resolve issues effectively. The Event Manager will also be expected to participate actively in planning and organizational meetings and maintain positive relationships with various event-related accounts such as food and beverage vendors, building trades, convention services, city services, and security teams.

Proficiency in creating CAD drawings for private events and the use of AV equipment and scheduling software will be advantageous. The job demands flexibility in working hours, including office hours, weekends, evenings, and holidays, to meet the dynamic nature of live event schedules. A professional presentation, appearance, and strong work ethic are vital attributes for success in this role. Job Requirements

  • 3-5 years of related work experience preferred
  • ability to move around the facility for long periods of time
  • ability to assist in moving tables, chairs, tensa barrier, bike rack, etc.
  • ability to use a two-way radio and telephone
  • ability to work a flexible schedule including office hours, weekends, evenings, and holidays

  • willingness to learn equipment needed for the role including CAD, AV equipment, scheduling software

Job Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree in Sports Management or related field and/or related work experience
  • 3-5 years of related work experience preferred

  • this position will be exposed to high noise levels
  • this position is not substantially exposed to adverse conditions

Job Duties

  • Oversee and supervise Operations Department event staff in set-up and execution of event related activities to develop and promote best practices in elevating service excellence
  • coordinate with event and promoter representatives to ensure all requirements are met for private events and events as assigned in the Arena spaces
  • monitor and supervise the facility on day of events to ensure operational policies and procedures are being followed
  • develop concepts, rules, policies, and procedures for private events to adhere to budgetary constraints
  • estimate and track costs on a show/event basis
  • support arena operations by participating in appropriate planning, organization, event and building meetings
  • maintain positive relationship with event-related accounts including food and beverage, building trades, convention services, city services, building security
  • develop CAD drawings for private events
