Job Description

Oak View Group (OVG) is a global leader in premium live entertainment infrastructure and services, specializing in venue development and comprehensive management solutions encompassing hospitality, sponsorship sales, and more. Established in 2015, OVG manages a diverse portfolio that includes seven world-class venues and provides expert services to iconic arenas, stadiums, convention centers, music festivals, performing arts centers, and cultural institutions across four continents. With a strong commitment to innovation and excellence, OVG fosters environments that celebrate diversity and aim to enhance the live entertainment industry worldwide.

Navy Pier, a premier event venue located in Chicago, IL, is one of the flagship facilities managed by Oak View Group. Known as "The People's Pier," Navy Pier was originally built in 1916 as a key element of Daniel Burnham's famed urban plan for Chicago. Today, it offers more than 50 acres of spectacular lakefront spaces, featuring multipurpose event areas, parks, restaurants, attractions, retail outlets, sightseeing and dining cruise boats, as well as top-notch exposition facilities. It boasts two exhibit halls, 34 meeting rooms, and the historic Aon Grand Ballroom with breathtaking views of Lake Michigan. These versatile spaces make Navy Pier an ideal destination for a variety of events, including trade shows, conferences, business meetings, and special occasions of all sizes.

The Event Manager role at Navy Pier is a full-time, regular position offering an annual salary range from $60,000 to $75,000. This position is instrumental in managing all aspects of assigned events, from initial planning and coordination to post-event follow-up, ensuring seamless execution and superior customer satisfaction. The Event Manager serves as a professional liaison between clients, event staff, and various departments within the facility to guarantee a smooth event experience. Key responsibilities include directing facility staff, facilitating effective communication, overseeing logistical arrangements, and monitoring contractual compliance. The role demands a high level of organizational skills, a commitment to exceptional customer service, and the ability to multitask within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

Ideal candidates will have 3-5+ years of experience in event management specifically within stadiums, arenas, convention centers, or similar public assembly venues. Advanced knowledge of event operations, crowd management, safety regulations, and facility use contracts is crucial. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, communication capabilities, budget preparation, and familiarity with A/V equipment and electronic systems enhance the ability to succeed in this position. The Event Manager also plays a critical role in training and supervising other event managers, further contributing to the team's overall performance and service quality.

Beyond professional qualifications, Oak View Group prides itself on its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, recognizing that diverse teams drive innovation and improve service. OVG seeks candidates who share these values and are dedicated to making a meaningful impact in the sports and live entertainment sectors. The position remains open until July 10th, 2026, inviting qualified applicants to become part of a forward-thinking organization that values excellence, client satisfaction, and community engagement.
