Job Description

Oak View Group (OVG) is a global leader in premium live entertainment infrastructure and services, specializing in venue development and comprehensive venue management. Established in 2015, OVG operates seven world-class owned venues and collaborates with iconic arenas, stadiums, convention centers, music festivals, performing arts centers, and cultural institutions across four continents. The company is dedicated to delivering superior experiences by integrating hospitality, sponsorship sales, and operational excellence. OVG is renowned for setting new standards in managing large-scale venues and creating memorable live events, making it a trusted partner in the entertainment industry.

This position is based at the Arthur R. Outlaw Mobile Convention Center, a premier 317,000-square-foot facility located in the heart of downtown Mobile, Alabama. The Convention Center features 16 meeting rooms, two ballrooms, and two exhibit halls totaling 100,000 square feet of versatile event space. Its strategic waterfront location, covered walkways to nearby hotels, and impressive architectural elements—including over 45,000 square feet of exterior glass providing stunning views of the Mobile River—make it an ideal venue for various events. The center’s proximity to downtown amenities such as dining, shopping, museums, and cultural landmarks enhances the attendee experience.

The role of Event Manager at Oak View Group is a full-time position offering an annual salary range of $50,000 to $55,000. The Event Manager will be responsible for managing the planning and execution of a diverse range of events, including conferences, trade shows, meetings, exhibitions, social gatherings, and special projects, all aimed at achieving the venue’s business objectives. This role requires a dynamic individual who can coordinate and oversee every aspect of event operations—from initial setup tasks and floor plans to the management of exhibits, displays, and vendor services.

The Event Manager must develop a thorough understanding of the venue’s facilities, convention services, and partner services, working closely with multiple departments such as Sales, Marketing, Facility Operations, Security, Finance, Human Resources, and venue stakeholders. Collaboration is key in this position to ensure that all events are executed flawlessly and align with both client expectations and company standards.

Key responsibilities include acting as the central point of contact for clients and contractors throughout all event phases, facilitating communication and the dissemination of event-related information, leading event personnel, and ensuring compliance with safety and emergency procedures. The Event Manager will also oversee the use of the event records management system, coordinate financial aspects such as budget management and billing for additional services, and provide on-site management during events.

The role demands excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, along with proficiency in budget control, vendor management, and customer service excellence. Candidates will need to demonstrate strong leadership abilities, attention to detail, and the capability to handle multiple events and priorities simultaneously. The Event Manager will be expected to conduct pre-event, day-of-event, and post-event walkthroughs to guarantee that all setup, safety, and cleanliness standards are met.

This role is ideal for a professional with a background in event management, hospitality, or business, who possesses a strong knowledge of facility operations and event logistics. Proficiency with event management software and Microsoft Office applications is required, with additional certifications such as Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) considered a plus. Oak View Group values diversity and inclusivity, fostering an environment where innovation and excellence thrive. The position is open until July 17th, 2026, and offers comprehensive benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with matching, and paid time off including vacation, sick days, and recognized holidays.
