The St. Charles Convention Center, managed by Oak View Group, is the premier full-service convention venue in the Saint Louis Metro Area. The role of Event Changeover Specialist at the St. Charles Convention Center is a part-time opportunity designed to support efficient and effective event operations by assisting with event setup, teardown, and facility maintenance. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced and service-oriented environment and are able to adapt to varying shift schedules including days, evenings, weekends, and overnight hours. The position offers a competitive hourly wage in the range of $18.50 to $19.50, with an additional premium of $5.00 per hour for overnight shifts between midnight and 5 AM. Part-time employees in this role are also eligible for the 401(k) savings plan with matching contributions.

As an Event Changeover Specialist, your responsibilities will include assembling and disassembling event infrastructure such as risers, chairs, tables, staging, dance floors, carpet squares, pipe and drape systems, and other necessary items. You will be entrusted with the safe handling and operation of cleaning supplies and various specialized equipment including buffers, burnishers, rider sweepers, scrubbers, vacuums, and snow removal tools. The position requires diligent execution of cleaning checklists, post-event cleanup, trash removal, and light maintenance tasks. Additionally, you will need to maintain a keen eye for detail by reporting any equipment malfunctions, facility damage, or improper setups to supervisory staff in a timely manner. Excellence in customer service, both to internal teams and external clients, is a vital component of this role, supporting the convention center’s commitment to outstanding event experiences.

Job Duties

  • Set-up and tear down including risers, chairs, tables, staging, dance floors, carpet squares, pipe and drape and other items as needed for events at facility
  • Execute accurate and timely completion of cleaning checklists and room sets
  • Handle folding chairs, stacking chairs, tables of various shapes and sizes, drapery and skirting
  • Responsible for safe use of various supplies including variety of cleaning chemicals, mops, brooms, shovels and scrapers
  • Operate an assortment of equipment including buffers/burnishers, rider sweepers/scrubbers, walk-behind scrubbers, blowers, vacuums, snow removal equipment and others as needed
  • Adequately perform post-event cleanup and trash removal
  • Perform light maintenance tasks as assigned
  • May occasionally work with heavy equipment or power tools
  • Report to supervisors any defective equipment, facility damage, incorrect/improper set-up and areas of the facility requiring cleaning, in a timely manner
  • Provide excellent customer service assistance to internal and external clients
