Job Description

The Event Changeover Specialist position at the St. Charles Convention Center is a part-time role dedicated to supporting the set-up and tear down of events, along with performing general housekeeping and custodial responsibilities. This role offers flexible scheduling options with days, evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts available to accommodate varying availability. Compensation ranges from $18.50 to $19.50 per hour, with a premium of $5 extra per hour for shifts worked between midnight and 5 AM. This role is integral to maintaining a high standard of event presentation and venue cleanliness, ensuring clients receive top-tier service from start to finish. Responsibilities in this position include arranging event furniture and equipment such as risers, tables, chairs, staging, dance floors, and pipe and drape systems; executing cleaning checklists to prepare rooms for events; operating various cleaning and snow removal machinery; and safely handling cleaning supplies. This role also requires proactive communication with supervisors regarding any facility issues or equipment defects and delivering excellent customer service to both internal teams and external clients. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent preferred
  • Experience in public facility highly preferred
  • Ability to follow applicable safety rules and procedures
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Work effectively in a service oriented environment subject to frequently changing priorities
  • Must have the ability to work flexible schedule including, nights, weekends and holidays
  • Must be able to lift heavy objects continuously

Job Duties

  • Set-up and tear down including risers, chairs, tables, staging, dance floors, carpet squares, pipe and drape and other items as needed for events at facility
  • Execute accurate and timely completion of cleaning checklists and room sets
  • Handle folding chairs, stacking chairs, tables of various shapes and sizes, drapery and skirting
  • Responsible for safe use of various supplies including variety of cleaning chemicals, mops, brooms, shovels and scrapers
  • Operate an assortment of equipment including buffers/burnishers, rider sweepers/scrubbers, walk-behind scrubbers, blowers, vacuums, snow removal equipment and others as needed
  • Adequately perform post-event cleanup and trash removal
  • Perform light maintenance tasks as assigned
  • May occasionally work with heavy equipment or power tools
  • Report to supervisors any defective equipment, facility damage, incorrect/improper set-up and areas of the facility requiring cleaning, in a timely manner
  • Provide excellent customer service assistance to internal and external clients
