Job Description

The position available is for a Dishwasher at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center located in Tallahassee, Florida. The Civic Center is a premier venue featuring a 12,500-seat arena, 34 luxury suites, 476 club seats, and over 54,000 square feet of meeting and exhibition space. It also includes the Spotlight Grille, an arena-view restaurant. The center is home to Florida State Men’s and Women’s basketball teams and is renowned for its lively atmosphere and strong home court advantage. Beyond sports, the venue hosts music concerts, trade shows, large catered events, receptions, religious services, and classes, making it a dynamic and versatile destination for entertainment and community events.
The Dishwasher role is a part-time position designed to support the food and beverage operations by ensuring all tableware, cooking equipment, and serving materials are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized. This role requires an individual who is reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-driven event environment. Responsibilities include washing and sanitizing all items to maintain high levels of cleanliness and safety, stocking cleaned items in their designated places, and assisting with food prep when necessary. The role pays an hourly wage of $15.50 and includes benefits such as a 401(k) savings plan with matching contributions for part-time employees. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in a commercial kitchen or food service environment preferred
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to follow safety and sanitation guidelines strictly
- Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and event days
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
Job Qualifications
- Some experience working in a kitchen atmosphere is helpful
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment
- Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, management staff, and guests in a clear, business-like, and respectful manner that focuses on generating a positive, enthusiastic, and cooperative work environment
- Possess a valid food handling certificate if required by state and federal regulations
- Able to operate standard kitchen equipment, including the broiler, steamer, convection oven, mixer, meat slicer, and chef knife
Job Duties
- Ensures highest sanitation levels for all items previously used so that they may be used again in clean condition, free of any contamination risk
- Utilizes and implements M.S.D.S. criteria, food and product safety, and Food and Beverage policies and procedures
- Removes all trash and maintains loading and receiving areas in safe and clean condition
- Stocks plates, glasses, pots, utensils, and pans after cleaning
- Cleans and sanitizes all food service areas and equipment
- May be asked to step in and help prep on certain occasions
