The Catering Barback position at the Iowa Events Center is a part-time role offering an hourly wage of $17.00 and is tip eligible. As a Catering Barback, the employee plays an essential behind-the-scenes role by preparing, setting up, and maintaining bars at catered events to ensure smooth beverage service. The primary responsibility of the Catering Barback includes setting up bars in accordance with the Banquet Event Order (BEO) and ensuring everything is stocked and well-prepared before events begin. The role involves receiving and safely storing inventory, maintaining cleanliness and organization of bar areas, and assisting bartenders during events. The Catering Barback must be able to handle and transport various beverage products such as beer, wine, liquor, garnishes, mixers, and ice.

An important aspect of this job is maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, including verifying guests’ legal age for alcohol consumption and supporting responsible beverage service practices.
