Established in 2015, OVG operates seven world-class venues and collaborates with some of the most iconic arenas, stadiums, convention centers, music festivals, performing arts centers, and cultural institutions across four continents. The company is committed to creating memorable experiences for millions of people worldwide through exceptional service, an engaging atmosphere, and innovative event execution.
The Iowa Events Center, located in Des Moines, Iowa, is one of the key venues managed by Oak View Group. It serves as a versatile location for concerts, sporting events, conventions, and private functions. The team at OVG values diversity and inclusivity, fostering a work environment where individuals from all backgrounds can contribute their unique perspectives and skills. This philosophy drives OVG’s commitment to continuous improvement, innovation, and excellence in live event services.
The Catering Barback position at the Iowa Events Center is a part-time role offering an hourly wage of $17.00 and is tip eligible. This position is ideal for motivated individuals looking to be part of a dynamic team in the live entertainment and catering industry. As a Catering Barback, the employee plays an essential behind-the-scenes role by preparing, setting up, and maintaining bars at catered events to ensure smooth beverage service. This role requires great attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
The primary responsibility of the Catering Barback includes setting up bars in accordance with the Banquet Event Order (BEO) and ensuring everything is stocked and well-prepared before events begin. The role involves receiving and safely storing inventory, maintaining cleanliness and organization of bar areas, and assisting bartenders during events. The Catering Barback must be able to handle and transport various beverage products such as beer, wine, liquor, garnishes, mixers, and ice.
An important aspect of this job is maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, including verifying guests’ legal age for alcohol consumption and supporting responsible beverage service practices. The role also involves communicating professionally with guests, co-workers, and managers to create a positive event experience.
This position offers flexibility with event-based scheduling, including working nights and weekends, making it an excellent opportunity for those seeking part-time work with competitive pay and the chance to gain valuable experience in hospitality and live event services. Oak View Group emphasizes inclusiveness and equal opportunity, promoting an engaging work culture where every team member’s voice is heard and respected.
