It serves its members by providing a wide range of dining and event experiences, from pregame dining for Crimson Tide fans to hosting milestone celebrations and university department events. The club aims to support its members in living their best lives both on and off campus by offering exceptional hospitality that matches the high standards of the university and the surrounding town.
The part-time Captain role at University Club Alabama involves assisting the Food and Beverage Director in overseeing day-to-day operations encompassing casual dining, fine dining, private events, and bartending services. This pivotal position requires coordinating closely with the member experience director, the event sales director, and event hosts to ensure smooth planning and execution of all events. The Captain is responsible for ensuring that the expectations of members and hosts are not only met but exceeded, contributing to a high level of member satisfaction.
This role demands leadership qualities as the Captain manages, trains, and motivates the service team, including servers, bartenders, and food runners. The Captain also plays an active role in managing the dining floor, guaranteeing that opening and closing duties are completed and that the operational standards of the club are upheld at all times. Positions are available for both day and night shifts during summer and fall, with weekends around home games being mandatory. This job offers an hourly wage ranging from $6.00 to $8.00 plus tips, along with benefits like a 401(k) savings plan and matching, even for part-time employees.

Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- 2-3 years of relevant supervisory experience in food and beverage service
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- ability to work day and night shifts including weekends
- knowledge of beverage and wine service
- ability to manage and motivate a team
- detail-oriented with a focus on service quality
Job Qualifications
- 2-3 years of experience as a server, floor, or bartending supervisor in a la carte or private dining service
- high-energy, outgoing personality with strong professional, interpersonal, and communication skills
- proven track record of team leadership and motivation skills
- attention to setup and service details are a must
- diplomatic team player able to foster relationships with members, employees, and guests
- beverage/wine service knowledge required
Job Duties
- Effectively communicate with department heads and employees to execute a high level of service at all times
- coordinates with the member experience director, the event sales director, and the event host to ensure that all events are well organized
- supports day-to-day operations, including casual, fine dining, private events, and bartending operations
- makes sure expectations of the member and host are met and exceeded
- manage, train, and create an engaging atmosphere for employees
- manage the floor by supporting servers, bartenders, and food runners
- ensure that opening and closing duties are completed
