Job Description
Oak View Group is a globally recognized leader in venue management and event services, operating some of the most iconic arenas, stadiums, and convention centers around the world. With a focus on delivering exceptional guest experiences through innovative venue solutions and operational excellence, Oak View Group brings together a team of dedicated professionals who manage and support large-scale events and gatherings. The Iowa Events Center, located in Des Moines, Iowa, is one of the premier event venues in the region, offering versatile spaces for concerts, sports events, conventions, and more. The center prides itself on maintaining a safe, clean, and well-organized environment that meets the high expectations of clients and attendees alike.
The Building Coordinator role at the Iowa Events Center is a vital, full-time position designed to provide hands-on event-driven support and leadership within the facility. This role involves overseeing key projects and managing employee productivity in areas such as housekeeping, show care, room setups, event teardown, arena conversions, convention services, and grounds maintenance. The Building Coordinator leads small teams of part-time Building Attendants, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and according to schedule. This position requires effective daily management of checklists and labor allocation sheets to keep operations running smoothly during events.
The successful candidate is responsible for training and coaching part-time staff, fostering a positive team environment, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety throughout the venue. They must be capable of operating various equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, buffers, scrubbers, and snow removal devices, and must be familiar with the safe use of cleaning chemicals and supplies. Attention to detail is essential, particularly when reading event documentation and diagrams to complete room setups accurately.
In addition to hands-on supervisory duties, the Building Coordinator provides excellent customer service to internal teams and external clients, contributing to the overall success of each event hosted at the Iowa Events Center. This role demands punctuality, reliable attendance, and the ability to work an event-driven schedule that includes days, nights, weekends, and holidays. The position offers an hourly rate of $19.00, with benefits provided as per the union agreement. It is an excellent opportunity for candidates with a background in facility management or event operations who thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and want to contribute to memorable event experiences in a premier venue.
