The Barista role at Oak View Group’s Seattle Aquarium location is a vital position within their Food & Beverage Management team. This part-time role focuses on delivering exceptional guest experiences by providing professional and efficient food and beverage service during daily cafe operations. The Barista directly impacts guest satisfaction by ensuring a welcoming environment and attentive service, tailored to meet event specifications and established service standards. Responsibilities include the setup, operation, and maintenance of the cafe and Barista counter, ensuring every guest receives timely, friendly, and precise service. Collaboration with kitchen staff is essential to maintain smooth operations and accommodate guest needs effectively.

Highly detail-oriented, the Barista must be capable of following opening and closing checklists, restocking supplies, and maintaining cleanliness of equipment and service areas. The role not only requires technical skills in coffee preparation and service but also thrives on interpersonal communication skills to enhance the overall guest experience. Compensation for this position is $21.30 per hour plus eligibility for tips. Job Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma, G.E.D., or related food service job experience
  • Must acquire and maintain a Food Handler's Card
  • Must acquire and maintain Alcohol Awareness Certification
  • Must complete other required compliance trainings
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, event-driven environment
  • Ability to communicate professionally with team members and guests
  • Availability to work during peak periods
  • Previous experience in coffee preparation preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment preferred
  • Previous experience preparing coffee drinks is a plus
  • Must have a high school diploma, G.E.D., or related food service job experience
  • Must acquire and maintain a Food Handler's Card, Alcohol Awareness Certification, and other required compliance trainings
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment
  • Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, management staff, and guests in a clear, business-like, and respectful manner

Job Duties

  • Have knowledge of how to build coffee drinks
  • Understand how to build a menu and be able to portion out drinks
  • Maintain knowledge of the menu and any special items being offered
  • Provide quick, attentive, friendly, and professional service to banquet guests and communicate clearly with all customers
  • Ensure that food items are served at proper temperature and immediately upon availability from the kitchen, as ordered by the customer
  • Ensure neat presentation of all ordered items, with no spillover
  • Pre-bus tables and fully bus tables when necessary during peak periods
  • Maintain availability to work during many peak periods
  • Stock beverage stations when necessary (ice, juices, glassware, sugar packets, etc)
  • Maintain high responsiveness to customer desires and requests
  • Maintain a professional and clean appearance
  • Communicate with waitstaff, buspersons, bartenders, supervisors, and kitchen staff to improve communication and coordination
  • Build and maintain knowledge regarding bar offerings so that patron questions may be accurately answered
