Job Duties

  • Prepares food for regular and therapeutic diets according to the planned menu
  • reads food order or receives verbal instructions on food required by patron and prepares and cooks food according to instructions
  • follows basic recipes and product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts and other foodstuffs
  • prepares food under supervision by operating kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients, wash, peel, cut and shred fruits and vegetables, and trim and cut meat, poultry or fish
  • tastes products, reads menus, estimates food requirements, checks production and keeps records to plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment
  • cleans and sanitizes workstation and equipment following all regulatory rules and procedures
  • complies with all HACCP policies and procedures
  • ensures proper quantity of food is prepared by utilizing correct portion control utensils
  • maintains proper food temperatures during preparation and records temperatures as per policy
  • reviews next day production needs
  • performs other assigned duties
