Job Description
SAIC, a leading technology integrator and solutions provider supporting national security and defense, is currently seeking a skilled Joint Exercise Planner to be based at Camp Smith in Honolulu, Hawaii. SAIC is recognized for empowering defense and government agencies with innovative solutions, enabling them to enhance their operational capabilities and readiness in a complex global environment. The company emphasizes collaboration, expertise, and cutting-edge technology to meet mission-critical challenges and provide decisive results. Known for its focus on employee development and commitment to excellence, SAIC offers a dynamic and inclusive workplace where professionals can grow their careers supporting national defense objectives.
The role of Joint Exercise Planner is a pivotal position within SAIC, assigned to support the United States Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM) J73, specifically the Theater Security Cooperation Exercises Branch (J732). This position is responsible for orchestrating the entire Joint Exercise Life Cycle (JELC) planning and ensuring the efficient execution of designated exercises such as COBRA GOLD, TIGER TRIUMPH, and VALIANT PACIFIC. These exercises are crucial for enhancing joint operational readiness and fostering interoperability among U.S. Armed Services and allied and partner military forces throughout the Indo-Pacific region. The planner will work closely with multiple agencies and organizations during planning events, integrating exercise control training, milestones, and deliverables to ensure mission success.
With assigned duties that include leading exercise work group meetings, producing exercise orders, and managing protocols and procedures such as authoring PLANORD/EXORD and Exercise Control Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), the role demands a highly organized and experienced individual. The planner will engage senior leaders through In-Progress Reviews (IPRs) and contribute to the development and inclusion of key leader engagements, messaging, and demonstrations integrated into training, exercises, and experimentation events. The position plays a critical role during the exercise execution phase, performing senior control functions within the Exercise Control Group (ECG), coordinating with staff to allocate personnel and resources, and maintaining information data sites to respond promptly to information requests.
Candidates for this role should be prepared for up to 30 percent international travel to support planning and execution across the Indo-Pacific theater. This travel enhances cooperative defense efforts and strengthens international partnerships. The target salary range for this full-time position is $120,001 to $160,000, commensurate with experience and other factors. Successful applicants will possess an active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance and must be U.S. citizens.
Overall, this opportunity at SAIC offers involvement in complex and high-impact defense exercises that shape joint readiness and enhance security cooperation across a critical global region. It is ideal for professionals with extensive experience in operations planning, joint exercise management, and military coordination seeking to contribute to national security while advancing their careers in a respected and innovative company.
