Job Description

Cineplex is a leading entertainment company known across Canada for its cinemas, entertainment venues, and gaming experiences. With a strong commitment to creating fun and engaging environments, Cineplex provides a blend of movie theatres, gaming, and dining that delivers memorable experiences to guests of all ages. One of its prominent venues, The Rec Room, combines entertainment and dining in a vibrant social setting. The Rec Room offers a wide variety of games, live entertainment, and a full-service restaurant and bar, making it a popular destination for those looking to enjoy a night out with friends or family. Operating in Winnipeg, The Rec Room is part of Cineplex's expanded offerings aimed at providing diverse entertainment options beyond movie-going.

The role of an Hourly Bartender at The Rec Room in Winnipeg is dynamic and pivotal to the guest experience. Bartenders here are not merely beverage preparers; they are essential members of a team that strives to provide exceptional service in a fast-paced, energetic environment. This position involves preparing and serving alcoholic drinks, pouring wines and beers, and ensuring guests enjoy their visits with expertly crafted beverages tailored to their preferences. The Hourly Bartender role requires flexibility, attentiveness, and strong interpersonal skills to handle a wide range of customer needs while maintaining a safe and welcoming atmosphere.

As a Bartender, you will take and fill drink orders, garnish and serve drinks, and handle payments efficiently using the Point of Sale (POS) system. Your responsibilities extend to maintaining cleanliness within the bar area by cleaning up after guests, removing empty bottles and trash, stocking the bar with necessary supplies, and washing glasses and utensils to ensure hygiene and operational readiness. Inventory management is also a critical part of the job; you'll monitor stocks of wines, beers, and liquors, and coordinate reordering when supplies run low. Maintaining safety is a top priority — this includes checking IDs to verify legal drinking age, recognizing signs of intoxication, and responsibly managing service to prevent overconsumption.

Working as an Hourly Bartender at The Rec Room offers an exciting opportunity to develop your craft in a setting that celebrates social interaction and high energy. This part-time or full-time role demands a flexible schedule with availability during days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Ideal candidates will bring prior bartending experience, knowledge of drink recipes, and have completed bartending classes with current Smart Serve certification being a significant asset. Strong communication and organizational skills will help you thrive here, positioning you for growth within Cineplex's wider operations.

Cineplex also values diversity and inclusion, committed to hiring individuals from all walks of life and ensuring equitable opportunities for all employees. They provide accommodations and support for applicants and staff with disabilities, fostering a workplace environment that is accessible and welcoming to everyone. With benefits like tuition assistance, employee assistance programs, flexible hours, discounted food and beverages on shift, and career growth opportunities, working as a Bartender at The Rec Room not only cultivates valuable skills but also supports your personal and professional development.
