Job Description

The Racquet Club, located in the vibrant city of Midland, Texas, is a prestigious private member-equity club established in 1959. Situated in the heart of the United States' oil and gas industry, Midland is renowned for its thriving petroleum sector and offers a unique blend of energy, culture, and climate. The city boasts an active community life with over 50 parks, a blossoming downtown scene, diverse restaurants, captivating museums, and a professional symphony orchestra housed in a world-class performing arts center. Leisure activities are plentiful, including minor league baseball and a variety of nightlife options, making Midland a dynamic place to live and work.

The Racquet Club is committed to providing an exceptional social and recreational experience for its members, who currently number around 320, with an average age of 55. The Club features outstanding amenities such as 11 plexi-cushioned hard tennis courts, 4 pickleball courts, a stadium court, a swimming pool, and a children's playground. It offers formal and casual dining, highlighted by its recently renovated Garden Room, TV Room, Main Dining Room, and a lively patio area—all designed to accommodate a variety of member preferences and social occasions. The Club hosts numerous social events and prides itself on delivering superior facilities and attentive service.

The Executive Chef role at The Racquet Club is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing all culinary operations. This role demands a leader with robust culinary expertise, organizational skills, and a member-focused approach who can inspire and develop a talented kitchen team of 17 employees, including sous chefs. The Executive Chef will be tasked with maintaining the highest quality food standards, operational discipline, and financial stewardship while fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, and continuous improvement.

This position is ideal for a culinary professional with proven experience in private clubs, resorts, or similar hospitality environments who thrives on innovation yet respects traditional culinary excellence. The Executive Chef is expected to engage actively with members by communicating the culinary vision and ensuring all dining experiences align with the Club’s mission to exceed member expectations. The role also involves strategic menu planning, managing food and labor costs responsibly, and leading safety and sanitation efforts.

The club has invested significantly in its facilities and is poised for further enhancements, including upcoming renovations to the Main Dining Room and clubhouse that will elevate the culinary and social environments further. This role offers a competitive salary reflective of the candidate’s experience and qualifications, alongside an excellent benefits package that supports professional growth and development.

The Executive Chef will be a visible, approachable leader who balances hands-on kitchen management with strategic oversight. Functioning as a key member of the leadership team, the Executive Chef will work closely with food and beverage managers to deliver cohesive and memorable member experiences across all culinary outlets. This includes a passion for teaching and training kitchen staff, fostering a fun and family-friendly working atmosphere, and embracing new culinary trends while honoring the club’s culinary traditions.

The club operates with a focus on excellence in both à la carte and banquet styles, budgeting for food and labor costs carefully to ensure sustainability and success. The Executive Chef will play a pivotal role in recruiting, mentoring, and empowering the culinary team to achieve high standards and meet the expectations of a well-traveled and discerning membership base. Active involvement in menu innovation and event planning reflects the club’s commitment to variety, quality, and culinary creativity.

Overall, this opportunity invites an executive culinary leader ready to immerse in a vibrant community, lead a talented team, and contribute meaningfully to the continuing success of The Racquet Club in Midland, TX.
