The Barback / Busser role at Terra Mae is a part-time position reporting directly to the Director of Food and Beverage and the Executive Chef. This position is vital in ensuring the smooth operation of both the front-of-house and bar environments in the restaurant. Barbacks and Bussers play an integral behind-the-scenes role that helps maintain the flow of service, keeping the dining room and bar areas clean, organized, and fully stocked to support the servers and bartenders. The Barback / Busser is responsible for various tasks, including stocking and replenishing bar supplies such as glassware, garnishes, ice, liquor, beer, and wine. They assist bartenders by maintaining cleanliness and organization of the bar area, performing tasks like changing kegs and restocking coolers as needed. Alongside bar duties, this team member helps in the dining room by efficiently clearing and resetting tables following Terra Mae’s standards. They maintain the cleanliness of service stations, restrooms, and dining areas, even assisting with water service and beverage refills as needed. The role also demands adherence to sanitation and safety procedures to comply with health regulations, ensuring a polished and inviting environment for guests.

Job Duties

  • Stock and replenish bar supplies including glassware, garnishes, ice, liquor, beer, and wine
  • assist bartenders with maintaining cleanliness and organization of the bar area
  • change kegs and restock coolers as needed
  • remove used glassware and maintain a polished, guest-ready bar top
  • clear and reset tables efficiently and according to Terra Mae standards
  • maintain cleanliness of dining areas, service stations, and restrooms
  • assist with water service and beverage refills as needed
  • polish glassware and silverware and assist with maintaining presentation standards
  • ensure service areas are stocked and organized throughout the shift
  • follow sanitation and safety procedures in accordance with health regulations
  • take out trash during end of night shift work
  • work closely with servers, bartenders, hosts, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth and efficient service
  • communicate proactively regarding inventory levels and guest needs
  • support a warm, welcoming atmosphere through attentiveness and urgency
  • assist guests courteously when approached and direct them to the appropriate team member when needed
  • perform side work and other responsibilities as assigned
