Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- must be able to successfully pass Benihana chef training program
- previous experience as chef or cook highly desirable
- ability to engage guests with entertaining cooking shows
- knowledge of food preparation and kitchen equipment
- ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards

- able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends

Job Duties
- Greets and welcomes guests within 15 minutes of their teppan order
- performs a cooking show for assigned tables ensuring interaction with guests is appropriate and courteous
- provides guests with information about Benihana foods as they are being cooked or upon guest inquiries
- responds promptly and courteously to guest requests
- asks guests for cooking preference and follows guest instructions
- prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking using kitchen equipment
- performs shift opening and closing duties such as cleaning refrigeration units, gaskets, chef carts and floors
- maintains kitchen and teppan cooking areas clean, sanitary and organized
- reports any kitchen equipment or maintenance issues to the manager on duty
- adheres to company standards on food portioning, cooking methods, quality standards, recipes, and service cycle
- prepares foods according to portion standards and recipe specifications including battering, breading, seasoning and marinating foods
- follows guidelines on food presentation and garnishes
- handles, stores, labels and rotates foods properly using FIFO method
- uses knives, utensils and equipment to prepare food for the dining room
- adheres to guidelines on alcoholic beverage service
- presents a clean and neat appearance and uses courteous manner with guests
- immediately notifies manager on duty when guests are not satisfied or if an accident occurs
- participates in guest special occasion celebrations
- performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
