Job Requirements

  • must have a high school diploma or GED
  • must be able to successfully pass Benihana chef training program
  • previous experience as chef or cook highly desirable
  • ability to greet and interact with guests in a courteous and professional manner
  • capability to perform cooking demonstrations and engage guests
  • knowledge of kitchen equipment use and safe food handling
  • must maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards
  • ability to follow company policies and procedures
  • strong attention to detail and quality standards
  • availability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • greets and welcomes guests within 15 minutes of their teppan order
  • performs a cooking show for assigned tables ensuring appropriate and courteous interaction with guests
  • provides guests with information about foods as they are cooked or upon inquiry
  • responds promptly and courteously to guest requests
  • asks guests for cooking preference and follows instructions
  • prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, and vegetables using kitchen equipment
  • performs shift opening and closing duties including cleaning
  • maintains kitchen, teppan cooking areas, and ensures cleanliness and sanitation
  • reports kitchen equipment or maintenance issues
  • complies with company standards on food portioning, cooking methods, quality, recipes, and policies
  • prepares foods according to portion and recipe standards including battering, breading, seasoning, and marinating
  • adheres to food presentation and garnish guidelines
  • handles and stores foods properly following health and safety laws and FIFO method
  • uses knives and tools to prepare food
  • follows guidelines on alcoholic beverage service
  • presents a clean and neat appearance and courteous manner
  • notifies manager on duty when guests are unsatisfied or accidents occur
  • participates in special occasion celebrations and may photograph guests
  • performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
