The Hibachi Chef role at Benihana is integral to delivering the exceptional dining experience the restaurant is known for. The position involves engaging directly with guests while cooking and preparing hot meals on hibachi tables located in front of the diners, turning meal preparation into an entertaining show. This role is responsible for ensuring proper food portioning, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation at hibachi tables and kitchen areas, and preparing various meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and other foods using specialized kitchen equipment. The chef not only has to be skilled at cooking but must also perform with confidence, welcoming guests, and interacting courteously to enhance their overall experience.
A Hibachi Chef at Benihana must be knowledgeable about the company’s standards regarding cooking methods, food presentation, portion control, and service cycles. The role requires adherence to food safety guidelines, including proper handling, storage, and rotation of food items. The chef is also expected to conduct daily opening and closing duties for the kitchen and cooking areas, maintain equipment, and promptly address any maintenance issues by reporting them to the management team. Job Requirements
- Must have a high school diploma or GED
- Must be able to successfully pass Benihana chef training program
- Previous experience as chef or cook highly desirable
