Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in related field preferred
  • Current American Culinary Federation certification as Executive Pastry Chef or qualification to obtain certification
  • ServSafe certification
  • Ten years of baking industry experience or two years of baking instruction and eight years of industry experience
  • Proficiency in artisan breads, viennoiserie, cakes, and plated desserts
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software
  • Two years of budget management experience
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations
  • Commitment to equity and inclusion
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Professional-Technical Certification as a condition of continued employment

Job Qualifications

  • Current American Culinary Federation certification as Executive Pastry Chef or qualifications to obtain certification
  • ServSafe certification from the National Restaurant Association
  • Ten years of baking industry experience or two years as Baking Instructor plus eight years of industry experience
  • Expertise in artisan breads, viennoiserie, cakes, and plated desserts
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Two years of budget management experience

Job Duties

  • Instruct all classes using active learning approaches that engage and facilitate student learning
  • Advise and assist students in their educational and career development
  • Enhance teaching and learning techniques
  • Pursue professional development activities
  • Obtain and maintain Professional-Technical Certification requirements
  • Participate in program, curriculum development, and assessment activities
  • Collaborate with colleagues, businesses, advisory committees, and educational partners to create unique learning opportunities
  • Participate in decision-making processes by serving on Department and College committees
  • Work cooperatively on department and college-wide projects
  • Assume leadership roles including faculty supervision, administrative duties, and student advising in the department
