The Temporary Service - Parking Attendant role is integral to the success of Purdue Athletics events. This position focuses on managing and optimizing parking operations during varsity sports and other events held in various athletic venues such as Ross-Ade Stadium and Mackey Arena. The Parking Attendant serves as the first point of contact for fans arriving at the events, greeting them warmly and delivering high-quality customer service. This role requires attentiveness to ensure that all parking regulations and Purdue Athletics tailgate policies are strictly observed, promoting a safe and orderly experience for all attendees. The attendant will work closely with supervisors and on-site Purdue University Police Department (PUPD) officers to address any parking-related issues effectively. Additionally, the role demands an understanding of game day operations, including providing accurate information about the events and directions to various parking lots and associated venues.

This temporary, non-exempt position demands dedication, patience, and strong interpersonal skills. It entails manual labor, including periods of extended standing and walking, as well as lifting and carrying items as needed. The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent time management, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team setting. Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Assist with parking operations for all varsity sports and other events
  • greet all fans positively and provide high quality customer service
  • assist parking vehicles in paved, grass, gravel and parking garages
  • ensure Purdue Athletics tailgate policies and guidelines are followed
  • communicate any tailgate policy violations to supervisors
  • evaluate parking to ensure optimal utilization and maintain safety
  • park vehicles efficiently to use all available space
  • notify event management of vehicles needing to be ticketed and towed prior to lot opening
  • position or remove barricades to control parking spots
  • work with onsite PUPD officers to resolve parking lot issues
  • provide fans with game day information and accurate directions
