Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 1-2 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Previous receptionist experience preferred
- Ability to work in a busy Emergency Room and clinic environment
- Availability to work part-time temporary hours
- Willingness to work nights and weekends as required
- Ability to work cooperatively with doctors, students, and staff
- Effective communication skills
- Must be able to handle stressful situations
- Essential personnel designation requiring alternate schedules
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 1-2 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Previous receptionist experience preferred
- Ability to handle a busy Emergency Room and clinic appointments
- Ability to work collegially with doctors, students, and staff
- Willingness to work an alternative schedule including some nights and weekends
- Strong customer service and communication skills
Job Duties
- Call for a triage when clients come into ES with an emergency
- Process all intake paperwork, discharge paperwork, and manage the client/doctor interactions
- Check clients in and out of appointments
- Print discharges for inpatients being discharged
- Answer the ES phone lines and assist clients with determining if they need to come into ES
- Transfer calls from referring veterinarians to the ES doctors
- Advise when to call Poison Control
- Answer Patient Information Calls and contact the doctors for updates
- Monitor and maintain the transfer board
- Work with Medical Records to make sure the ES charts get added to the medical record
- Make copies, send faxes, keep all forms stocked
- Admit all A.M. admits to the hospital that will be transferred to other services
