Job Description

The University of Notre Dame is a prestigious higher education institution renowned for its commitment to academic excellence, research, and community engagement. Located in Notre Dame, Indiana, it embodies a rich tradition rooted in its Catholic heritage. The University offers a vibrant, mission-driven environment where employees are valued and supported. With a focus not only on academic achievement but also on nurturing the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—Notre Dame creates a compelling workplace culture emphasizing well-being and belonging. Employees at Notre Dame are part of a dedicated community that strives to make a meaningful impact both on campus and globally, whether through cutting-edge research, enriching the student experience, or supporting the University’s broad mission and initiatives.

The University of Notre Dame's Operations, Events, and Safety (UOES) division plays a vital role in orchestrating some of the most important functions on campus. It manages event coordination, hospitality services, and customer relations while also extending support to student life, academic projects, and large-scale university celebrations. Within this division, the Hospitality department at Rohr’s is currently looking to hire temporary, on-call Bartenders. This part-time role offers an engaging opportunity for individuals who enjoy working in fast-paced environments and delivering exceptional customer service.

The Bartender position is designed for friendly, energetic candidates who can skillfully mix and serve a diverse range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages while upholding Notre Dame’s high standards of service and compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. This role demands excellent interpersonal communication, a positive team spirit, and the ability to maintain a clean and inviting bar setting. Bartenders will interact directly with guests, ensuring that every visitor to Rohr’s has an enjoyable and memorable experience. Additionally, Bartenders are responsible for managing inventory, processing payments via POS systems, and adhering to all health and alcohol service regulations.

This role offers a competitive pay rate starting at $8.78 per hour plus tips and requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends as per the event schedule. Candidates will need to obtain a bartending license and meet Indiana’s minimum legal age requirements for alcohol service. Previous bartending experience and knowledge of drink recipes are highly preferred. Working at the University of Notre Dame is more than a job; it’s joining a supportive community that encourages professional growth while contributing to a Catholic-inspired mission that benefits society at large.
