Job Description

Harris County Precinct 4 is a local government office dedicated to serving the residents of one of the largest and most diverse counties in Texas. Focused on community engagement and efficient public service delivery, the precinct office manages a variety of administrative and public-facing functions aimed at improving the quality of life for its constituents. Known for fostering a professional and welcoming atmosphere, Harris County Precinct 4 emphasizes innovation, accountability, and a people-first approach in all its operations. This office provides essential services ranging from public infrastructure maintenance to community outreach programs, positioning itself as an integral part of the regional government framework.

Harris County Precinct 4 is currently seeking a temporary Front Desk Receptionist for its Preston Office Location. This role is pivotal as the first point of contact for visitors, clients, and staff, setting the tone for their experience with the precinct. The Front Desk Receptionist will be an essential member of the Administrative Team, responsible for managing front desk operations, answering and directing telephone inquiries, greeting guests, and supporting various administrative tasks. This position demands someone who is not only skilled in customer service but also possesses a high level of professionalism and a positive attitude.

The ideal candidate will bring heart, hustle, and a commitment to higher standards to their work. This role provides an opportunity to be a face for the precinct, ensuring a welcoming and efficient environment. Responsibilities include handling mail and packages, maintaining an organized front desk area, offering basic information about precinct services, assisting with data entry and filing, and coordinating meeting room bookings across multiple office locations. The ability to multitask and adapt to a dynamic environment while exhibiting strong communication skills is crucial.

Employment in this role is temporary, and candidates should be prepared to work flexible hours and potentially support other office locations as needed. The position is subject to a criminal history check, with only relevant convictions considered, and even then, they may not automatically disqualify a candidate. This role requires a combination of a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive both independently and as part of a team.

Harris County offers a competitive benefits package for regular, full-time employees, which includes comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, life insurance, long-term disability insurance, and retirement savings plans. While this position is temporary, the candidate will be joining a forward-looking and innovative team dedicated to advancing justice and opportunity within the community. Harris County fosters an inclusive work environment and encourages applicants who are committed to serving the public with integrity and dedication.
