Job Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must be mobile and in overall good health
- Ability to speak and read English
- Ability to follow approved standardized recipes
- Ability to follow written and oral directions
- Ability to interact tactfully with residents and family members, staff and general public
- Must be able to work weekends when needed
- Previous experience in senior living preferred
- Experience with production methods, portion control and food handling safety required
- Great organizational skills
- Strong communication skills
- Attention to detail and presentation of food product
Job Qualifications
- Prefer 2-3 years experience in food preparation and baking
- At least 1 year scratch baking and cooking experience required
- Ability to speak and read English
- Ability to follow approved standardized recipes
- Ability to make independent decisions and work with little supervision
- Ability to follow written and oral directions
- Ability to interact tactfully with residents, family, staff and public
- Previous experience in senior living preferred
- Experience with production methods, portion control and food handling safety

Job Duties
- Prepare, bake and serve all food items and meals according to planned menus and recipes ensuring meals are palatable and appetizing
- Operate ovens and baking equipment monitoring temperature and baking times adjusting settings based on product type
- Assist in food preparation for special meals, parties, and events and in the purchasing and organizing of food and supplies
- Prepare food and serve in compliance with sanitary regulations and established policies reporting incidents to Culinary Services Director
- Maintain clean and properly arranged food storage areas at all times
- Maintain stock levels of staple and non-staple foods, supplies, and equipment
- Properly label, date, and store all food leftovers
- Check in all purchases in the absence of the Culinary Services Director
- Assist with inventory and storage of incoming food and supplies
- Serve meals timely and assist as necessary
- Open or close kitchen according to scheduling
- Ensure staff arrive and depart at scheduled times in absence of Culinary Services Director
- Perform cleaning duties as assigned
- Prepare soups, appetizers, entrees, vegetables, side dishes, and desserts for regular and special diets
- Plan timing of food production to coordinate with meal serving hours to preserve food quality
- Maintain control over portion sizes and food consistency to minimize waste
- Set up carts for delivery to resident dining areas
- Communicate observed or suspected resident condition changes to supervisor immediately
- Maintain a safe and secure environment following established safety standards
- Encourage teamwork and cooperative interactions with co-workers and other departments
- Support a positive and professional image through actions and dress
- Perform other duties as assigned by Culinary Services Director
