The University of Notre Dame is a prestigious institution located in Notre Dame, Indiana, recognized worldwide not only for its rigorous academic programs but also for its commitment to fostering a thriving, mission-driven community. As a renowned university deeply rooted in Catholic tradition, Notre Dame emphasizes a culture that nurtures the whole person—mind, body, and spirit. Employment at Notre Dame means becoming part of a vibrant community where every worker is valued, supported, and given opportunities for personal and professional growth. The University is dedicated to excellence in research, teaching, and service, providing an enriching environment that celebrates well-being, inclusivity, and diversity. This environment shapes the experiences of its employees, promoting a sense of belonging and shared purpose. Notre Dame is committed to being an employer of choice by offering competitive compensation, a culture that prioritizes mental and physical health, and chances to contribute to impactful work and meaningful events throughout the academic year.
The Temporary Baker role resides within the University of Notre Dame's Operations, Events, and Safety (UOES) division, specifically supporting the Three Leaf Catering team. The UOES division manages a range of services including event management, hospitality, customer service, and other vital functions that support student life, academic initiatives, research undertakings, and key campus events. As an on-call or temporary position, the Temporary Baker will play a flexible but critical role in helping the university deliver exceptional bakery and pastry products for its campus community and special events. Reporting to senior bakers and culinary leaders, this role provides hands-on participation in the preparation and production of a wide variety of baked goods, from simple cookies and muffins to intricate artisan breads and plated desserts. This position demands a passion for baking, attention to food quality and safety, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. It is an excellent opportunity for both seasoned bakers looking for temporary employment as well as entry-level candidates eager to build their skills in a supportive and dynamic culinary setting.
The position pays $17.50 per hour and is ideal for persons with adaptable schedules since shifts may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and event-based hours. The Temporary Baker will be expected to maintain high standards of sanitation and safety according to ServSafe protocols, operate baking equipment efficiently, collaborate effectively with culinary staff, and contribute to the successful execution of catering operations, ensuring that Notre Dame's tradition of excellence extends to every dining experience it offers.
