The role of Teller is essential within this banking environment. As a Teller, the individual will be the primary point of contact for customers, responsible for delivering outstanding customer service while handling financial transactions efficiently and securely. This position requires accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks including cash handling, check cashing, loan payments, and balancing cash drawers. The Teller is also tasked with ensuring compliance with all relevant federal banking regulations such as the Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC, and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, amongst others, to protect the bank and its clients.

Additionally, the Teller plays a vital role in supporting the overall branch operations by maintaining appropriate supplies at the teller station, handling customer inquiries both in person and via phone or email, and assisting with night depository processes. This job demands excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, along with the ability to handle sensitive financial information discreetly. Ideal candidates are motivated, team-oriented, and capable of managing customer interactions professionally even in challenging situations. Job Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent GED
  • cash handling experience preferred
  • excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • knowledge of English language structure and content
  • excellent computer and keyboard skills
  • good organizational skills
  • must be neatly dressed and well groomed
  • required to complete all compliance and e-learning courses by due date
  • must adhere to all bank policies and procedures

Job Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent GED

  • knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar
  • excellent computer and keyboard skills
  • good organizational skills
  • cash handling experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Receive checking and saving deposits
  • verify cash and endorsements, receive proper identification for cash back and issue deposit receipts
  • cash checks by verifying endorsement, receiving proper identification, and ensuring validity
  • accept loan payments, verify payment amount and issue receipts
  • balance drawer daily including periodic batching of cashed checks and investigate and resolve out-of-balance conditions
  • issue personal money orders and cashier's checks
  • examine checks deposited and determine proper funds availability based on regulation requirements
  • buy and sell currency from the vault as necessary ensuring teller drawer cash limits are not exceeded
  • check night depository bags and record proper information on the bank's forms
  • ensure compliance with federal banking regulations such as Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC, Community Reinvestment Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Right to Financial Privacy Act, Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, and Federal Reserve regulations
  • maintain knowledge and understanding of all bank products and services
  • ensure teller station is properly supplied
  • answer phones and respond to emails
  • communicate effectively with customers during difficult situations
  • follow all bank policies and procedures
  • greet and assist customers
  • balance teller drawer consistently
  • perform other duties as assigned
