Job Description
Americhem is a globally recognized company specializing in the design and manufacture of custom color masterbatch, functional additives, engineered compounds, and performance technologies. Established as a leader in the polymer industry, Americhem is committed to delivering exceptional performance, innovative solutions, and building trust through close collaboration with its customers. The company’s extensive portfolio serves diverse industries, providing products that help optimize polymer characteristics to meet precise application needs. Americhem’s support system includes complete technical backing, ensuring that all products uphold standards of quality, reliability, and value, making it a preferred partner globally for polymer enhancement solutions.
The Technology & Innovation (T&I) Program and Portfolio Manager at Americhem plays a critical role in steering the company’s innovation efforts on a global scale. This full-time position is focused on enhancing visibility, fostering alignment, and driving execution across the entire T&I project portfolio. By managing project prioritization, resource allocation, and pipeline planning, the manager ensures that innovation initiatives are well-supported and strategically synchronized across various segments and geographic regions. This role acts as a central communication hub bridging technical, commercial, and operational functions to promote transparent labor tracking, efficient reporting, and robust communication routines. The ultimate goal is to accelerate the speed-to-market of innovative products while maximizing portfolio productivity and effectiveness.
In this dynamic role, the manager facilitates regular portfolio reviews and collaborates closely with segment leadership to maintain strategic alignment and adapt to evolving priorities. The position demands strong coordination skills to monitor project milestones, risks, and progress, enabling proactive corrective actions. Furthermore, it involves managing labor utilization and capacity planning by partnering with HR, finance, and development teams to produce accurate forecasts and reports. The role extends to training the broader T&I team in advanced statistics and experimental design, enhancing the overall analytical capabilities within the innovation process.
The Technology & Innovation Program and Portfolio Manager is also responsible for maintaining and enhancing centralized dashboards and key performance indicators (KPIs) to bolster accountability and insightful decision-making. This includes continually refining existing tools and procedures to enable timely responses to project challenges and support efficient portfolio governance.
Communication is another cornerstone of this role, requiring the manager to act as a liaison that ensures portfolio decisions are effectively communicated and implemented across diverse teams. The manager supports functional leaders in facilitating meetings, preparing documentation, and following up on innovation program activities. Additionally, the position contributes to change management initiatives to ensure smooth adaptations within the innovation pipeline and organizational structures.
Candidates suitable for this role will have a strong background that combines technical expertise, project management proficiency, and a deep understanding of innovation portfolio governance. The environment is fast-paced and matrixed, demanding high levels of organization, a problem-solving mindset, and exceptional interpersonal skills. Occasional travel up to 20% is required to visit pilot lines, manufacturing sites, and vendor locations as needed. This in-person role offers a unique opportunity to influence the innovation trajectory of a leading global company focused on polymer technology and performance enhancement.
