BAE Systems Space & Mission Systems is currently seeking a skilled Aerospace Painter - Technician III to join their Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit. This mid-career role focuses on advanced surface preparation, masking, coating application, and finishing operations on aerospace hardware. The technician is expected to work with minimal supervision, interpret complex drawings independently, support process improvements, and contribute to efficient, high-quality production. The unit plays a vital role in enabling seamless business and program execution by leveraging strategic capital investments, streamlined industrial operations, and state-of-the-art manufacturing and test capabilities.

The Aerospace Painter - Technician III performs critical tasks including surface preparation, paint mixing, coating application using primers, topcoats, and specialty aerospace coatings, and operating paint booths and curing ovens. The role demands strict adherence to safety and compliance guidelines while handling hazardous materials such as chemicals, solvents, acids, and bases. Effective documentation, such as maintaining production records and process logs, is required to ensure quality and process accountability. The technician also supports continuous improvement initiatives that enhance workflow efficiency and reduce defects in paint operations.

Collaboration is a key element of this role, with expectations to work alongside engineers, technicians, leads, and other manufacturing teams across departments, including printed circuit operations and metal finish labs. The position requires a strong commitment to safety, environmental standards, and maintaining clean, organized work areas. Employees must be capable of working on-site five days a week, with possible travel between company campuses.

Educationally, the position requires a high school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of two years of related experience in aerospace painting or industrial coatings. Higher degrees can substitute for experience, and candidates must demonstrate proficiency in surface preparation, masking, spray application, curing processes, reading engineering drawings, and safe chemical handling. Basic computer skills for record-keeping and compliance are also necessary.

The salary range for this full-time position is $57,319 to $91,710, based on market standards, experience, skills, and business needs.
