Job Description

IHG Hotels & Resorts is a globally recognized hospitality company that operates a network of over 6,000 hotel destinations worldwide. Renowned for delivering True Hospitality for Good, IHG embraces a culture of inclusivity, collaboration, and continuous innovation. The company provides its employees with an enriching work environment where flexibility, growth, and wellbeing are prioritized. Employees enjoy an inspiring workplace culture that blends remote and office work to promote balance and productivity, alongside numerous benefits like significant room discounts, recharge and volunteering days, and a comprehensive myWellbeing framework to support health and lifestyle. IHG fosters diversity and equal opportunity, ensuring every colleague can bring their whole selves to work and feel a genuine sense of belonging. With bold ambitions to expand its market leadership, IHG is committed to long-term performance and offering superior experiences for guests and hotel owners alike.

The Tech Lead – Groups & Events (G&E) at IHG plays a pivotal senior technical leadership role within the Groups & Events ecosystem. This position focuses on designing, integrating, and maintaining complex, enterprise-scale technology solutions critical to group sales, booking, and hotel fulfillment workflows. As a strategic partner, the Tech Lead collaborates with Product Managers, Business Analysts, and external vendors to translate intricate business requirements into cohesive technical roadmaps and solutions. The role demands an ability to architect and guide cross-system integrations that span multiple technologies and platforms, ensuring alignment with enterprise-wide architecture, security policies, and integration standards.

Day-to-day responsibilities include acting as the primary technical advisor for Groups & Events projects, breaking down complex business problems into clear technical solutions, and overseeing the technical direction across multiple interconnected systems. This role also involves validating design choices for scalability and long-term maintainability, supporting comprehensive system testing strategies, and monitoring live environments to proactively address issues. The Tech Lead serves as a key communicator, providing clear explanations of technical trade-offs and risks to both technical teams and business stakeholders, supporting delivery planning with scope definition and risk mitigation, and driving continuous improvement through tracking and reporting technical KPIs.

To succeed in this role, candidates should have demonstrated experience leading technical initiatives in enterprise environments characterized by integrated systems and vendor partnerships. The ideal candidate will be adept at influencing solution designs, possess strong architectural judgment focused on system stability and performance, and be comfortable navigating ambiguity and evolving project scopes. Excellent communication skills and an ownership mindset for end-to-end solution health—from inception through production support—are essential. Experience with software development, system integration, and lifecycle management in multi-platform environments is vital, along with the ability to challenge assumptions and guide teams through design, delivery, and operational excellence.

This role is based in Atlanta, GA, and operates under a hybrid work model requiring three days per week in the office, with travel limited to 10% as necessary. The salary range is $134,000 to $157,000 annually, with eligibility for bonus pay. IHG offers a comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental, vision insurance, and a 401K plan among other benefits, supporting a healthy work-life balance and professional growth.

Job Requirements

  • Solid experience in software development and system integration environments, with the ability to assess design, integration patterns, testing approaches, and operational impacts
  • Strong understanding of enterprise application architecture, integration patterns, and system lifecycle management
  • Experience supporting or leading systems that rely on multiple platforms, services, and third-party vendors
  • Ability to design and monitor technical KPIs related to performance, reliability, and service levels
  • Experience guiding systems through full lifecycle phases: design, delivery, testing, deployment, stabilization, and optimization
  • Depth of technical knowledge sufficient to challenge assumptions, identify risks, and guide teams at the design and delivery level
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% as needed
  • Ability to work in a hybrid structure requiring three days a week in the office at Atlanta, GA

Job Qualifications

  • Proven experience providing technical leadership in complex, enterprise-scale environments with multiple integrated systems
  • Strong ability to synthesize business needs and guide solution design through influence rather than direct authority
  • Experience partnering closely with product managers and business analysts to shape and deliver integrated solutions
  • Sound technical judgment and architectural thinking, with a strong focus on system stability, performance, and scalability
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and evolving problem spaces, particularly in vendor-supported delivery models
  • Clear, confident communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts for business stakeholders
  • Ownership mindset for end-to-end solution health, from design through production support and continuous improvement

Job Duties

  • Act as the primary technical partner for groups & events initiatives, working alongside product managers and business analysts to break down complex business problems into clear, executable technical direction
  • Translate business requirements related to group booking, housing, rooming lists, and hotel fulfillment into cohesive technical solutions across integrated platforms
  • Provide technical leadership across vendor-led and internal systems, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, security, and integration standards
  • Guide system integration efforts across multiple technologies, validating design decisions for scalability, reliability, and long-term maintainability
  • Define and support system testing strategies including reliability, scalability, and maintainability, review outcomes, and ensure remediation actions are completed
  • Monitor live environments and proactively identify, analyze, and resolve system issues in a structured and timely manner
  • Support delivery planning by contributing to scope definition, dependency mapping, risk identification, and mitigation strategies
  • Define, track, and report technical performance KPIs to support service level improvements and continuous optimization
  • Serve as a technical advisor to cross-functional stakeholders, clearly explaining trade-offs, risks, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences
