Job Description

Applegreen USA is a leading operator of travel plazas, operating over 80 locations across the Northeast and Midwest of the United States. The Team Member position at Applegreen is a key role within its operations department, reporting directly to the General Manager. This role is primarily non-exempt and often filled on a seasonal basis during peak periods, from April 1st through September 30th. Seasonal Associates play a vital part in maintaining quality service during these months and are supported with valuable benefits such as flex sick time, earned wage access, employee referral bonuses, meal discounts, and flexible scheduling. As a Team Member, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, ensuring the cleanliness and stocking of the travel plaza, processing accurate payment transactions, and preparing and serving quality food products. You will play an important role in representing the Applegreen brand, maintaining high standards for food safety, hygiene, and customer satisfaction. The position demands a positive demeanor, excellent communication skills, and a passion for delivering a pleasant experience to every traveler.

The role involves diverse tasks including handling point-of-sale systems, engaging with customers in friendly and helpful ways, adhering to food handling safety protocols, and assisting in kitchen operations like prepping and cooking. Additionally, Team Members are expected to support cross-selling and up-selling efforts, maintain knowledge of all available products and services, and comply with brand standards and company policies. Flexibility in scheduling, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays, is essential, given the dynamic nature of travel plaza operations.

Job Requirements

  • Able to stand and walk for an extended period of time
  • frequently bend, twist, lift and carry at least 40 pounds
  • requires the ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with customers
  • available to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • Demonstrates the ability to interact with the public and coworkers in a friendly, enthusiastic, and outgoing manner
  • cash handling and customer service experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Consistently provide friendly customer service by engaging in positive, helpful interactions with customers (travelers)
  • operate point-of-sale (POS) system, accurately process and receive payment from customers, and follow all customer service and cash handling policies and procedures
  • ensure proper food handling procedures are followed including wrapping, labelling, dating, stocking, storing, rotating, and checking temperature of products
  • complete a variety of kitchen-related tasks including prepping, thawing, cooking, packaging, wrapping, and cleaning
  • stock, clean, and sanitize workstation and equipment
  • actively cross-sell and up-sell products
  • maintain a solid knowledge of products and services available in the plaza
  • follow required brand standards, food safety requirements, as well as all company policies and procedures
  • execute a variety of other tasks as assigned
