The Team Member role at Tractor Supply is critical to maintaining the company’s high standards of customer service and operational excellence. This position involves interacting directly with customers and fellow team members to support selling initiatives, assist with product recommendations, and perform various assigned tasks that contribute to the store’s daily operations. The role requires team members to be flexible, adaptable, reliable, and service-oriented. Responsibilities include maintaining store presentation through merchandising, recovery of merchandise, and completing Plan-o-gram procedures such as sets and resets. Team Members operate cash registers and computer systems, handle cash transactions accurately, and assist customers with loading their purchases. Physical tasks such as assembling merchandise, janitorial duties, executing price changes, and operating equipment like forklifts and cardboard balers (for those 18 and older) are part of the typical duties. Care for the well-being of birds and sanitation of poultry holding tanks is also included within the role. Team Members must provide a safe and productive shopping environment by adhering to safety protocols and promoting positive customer interactions. The role demands strong communication, problem-solving abilities, and basic computer skills. The physical requirements involve lifting merchandise up to 50 pounds, pushing and pulling items with equipment assistance, frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and operating various store equipment throughout shifts that often include nights, weekends, and overtime as needed. Job Requirements
- Ability to move and transfer merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to push and pull merchandise up to 2,000 pounds with equipment assistance
- Ability to occasionally lift or reach overhead
- Ability to frequently stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, and climb ladders
- Ability to move throughout the store for entire shifts
- Ability to safely access all store areas including selling floor, stock area and register
- Ability to operate store equipment such as dolly, handtruck, forklift and baler (if 18 or older)
- Ability to constantly operate computer and cash register
- Ability to read, write and count accurately
- Ability to use strong verbal and written communication
- Ability to process merchandise through point-of-sale system
- Ability to handle and be in contact with birds/poultry
- Ability to successfully complete all required training and certifications including propane dispensing if applicable
Job Qualifications
- No prior experience required
- Retail experience preferred
- Experience in farming, ranching, pet/equine or welding knowledge preferred
- A high school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to read, write and count accurately
- Strong interpersonal skills and ethical conflict resolution
Job Duties
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance
- Work scheduled shifts including varied hours, days, nights, weekends and overtime
- Deliver Legendary Customer Service by greeting customers, uncovering needs, recommending product solutions, and adding value
- Operate cash register and follow cash handling procedures
- Recover merchandise and participate in mandatory freight processes
- Complete Plan-o-gram procedures including merchandising, sets, and resets
- Assemble merchandise and perform janitorial duties
- Execute price changes and markdowns
- Operate forklift and cardboard baler if 18 or older
- Assist customers with loading purchases
- Ensure a Legendary shopping experience
- Ensure safety and care for birds and poultry holding tanks
- Complete all documentation related to job duties
- Perform other duties as assigned
