The Production Team Leader position based in Franklin Park, Illinois, plays a vital role in supporting Novolex’s manufacturing operations. This leadership role is designed for individuals with a passion for optimizing production processes, ensuring safety and quality standards, and fostering team effectiveness. The Production Team Leader will guide hourly team members, driving productivity and continuous improvement within the plant's production lines. This role requires hands-on involvement in overseeing line operations to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures and safety guidelines. The position offers a competitive compensation range starting from $22.46 to $53.26 per hour, with opportunities for overtime work. The available shift for this position is the day shift, running from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.
In this role, the Production Team Leader is not only responsible for monitoring the efficiency and quality of production lines but also plays a critical part in employee coaching, training, and conflict resolution. They work closely with warehouse and production personnel to resolve material-related issues and ensure adherence to Bill of Material compliance. Additional responsibilities include overseeing troubleshooting processes, supporting preventative maintenance, enforcing safety rules including GMP and proper PPE use, and participating in safety incident investigations. This position requires excellent communication skills, the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels, and a proactive approach to managing team dynamics and operational challenges. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One or more years of experience in manufacturing production or related field preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Ability to lead and coach team members
- Availability to work overtime as required
- Familiarity with safety procedures and use of personal protective equipment
- Ability to work cooperatively with others
- Basic computer skills
Job Qualifications
- Prior PC skills and leadership experience preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with employees at all levels
- Ability to provide effective formal and informal coaching and training
- Ability to set priorities and manage multiple problems simultaneously
- One or more years of manufacturing production work experience within a plant or related field preferred
- Familiarity with current plant work process flow
Job Duties
- Guide team’s mission in productivity, safety, quality, operations, continuous improvement, and team effectiveness
- Ensure lines are running well by following line conditions, standard operating procedures, and proper settings
- Monitor scrap generation, line downtime, and efficiency
- Resolve non-poly issues with warehouse and PIC
- Ensure Bill of Material compliance
- Ensure troubleshooting process is followed and support preventative maintenance
- Enforce safety rules, GMP, and use of proper PPE
- Collect information for safety incident investigations and notify management
- Coordinate training for new employees and cross-training personnel
- Verify quality checks are completed by operators
- Assign housekeeping duties to operators
- Report personnel issues, document and assist with conflicts
- Handle operator performance issues and counsel employees
- Perform other assigned job duties
