Job Description

The Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) is a pivotal state agency dedicated to supporting and advancing Texas agriculture and rural communities. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Three years of professional event planning experience
  • Experience with contract and vendor oversight
  • Valid Texas driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Internal candidates must meet performance expectations with a score of 3.5 or higher
  • Ability to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Ability to travel up to 35 percent, occasionally overnight
  • Must work on-site as telework is not offered

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Three years’ work experience in planning, coordinating and managing special events and conferences
  • Experience in contract and vendor oversight
  • Knowledge of event and exhibit development and operations
  • Skill in customer service and program performance measurement
  • Ability to prepare reports and communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality

Job Duties

  • Develop and implement assigned Food and Nutrition conferences, special events and exhibits
  • Manage and track the budget for Food and Nutrition special events, conferences and exhibits
  • Oversee the development and implementation of contracts including vendor evaluation and invoice approval
  • Lead cross functional teams to ensure successful event staffing, communication and logistics
  • Create and implement evaluation methods and metrics for events and exhibits
  • Communicate event updates to internal and external stakeholders
  • Coordinate the development of concepts and designs for displays and exhibits
