Our establishment is a reputed sushi restaurant dedicated to offering an authentic Japanese dining experience. We are in search of highly skilled sushi chefs to join our team and contribute their expertise in sushi preparation. The sushi chef role involves crafting various types of sushi such as nigiri and maki rolls, preparing traditional Japanese sushi rice with precision, and expertly cutting and filleting different kinds of fish with advanced knife skills. The ideal candidate will be able to manage the supply chain aspect by ordering and restocking ingredients as necessary to maintain smooth kitchen operations. A successful sushi chef at our restaurant understands the complementary flavors that make sushi a culinary delight, ensuring that every dish served meets high standards for taste, presentation, and quality.
In addition to technical skills, the role requires a friendly and approachable personality who can interact effectively with guests, offering recommendations and accommodating special requests, including food allergy considerations. The sushi chef will work at the sushi bar, preparing dishes right in front of guests and accepting their orders directly while also serving patrons dining elsewhere in the restaurant. This position expects the chef to maintain a clean work environment focused on food safety and hygiene, regularly inspecting the quality of ingredients and reporting any issues promptly. Ultimately, the sushi chef contributes to the restaurant’s mission by creating specialty sushi dishes that provide a rich and distinct Asian dining experience, helping to attract more guests and increase sales consistently.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous experience working in upscale sushi restaurants
- Must successfully complete restaurant training course
- Valid Food Handling Certification
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking
- Must be able to lift, balance, and carry trays of food and drinks weighing up to 25 pounds

Job Duties
- Makes sushi rice with perfect form and consistency
- Expertly cutting, slicing and filleting different types of fish
- Prepares raw fish in an appropriate manner
- Handles restocking of ingredients
- Preparing various types of sushi dishes according to established guidelines on quality, portion size, presentation, and food safety
- Manages storage of fruits, vegetables and meats such as crab, eel, salmon, and tuna
- Inspecting the quality of fruits, vegetables, and fish used to prepare sushi dishes and informing the Executive Chef when quality is sub-standard
- Maintaining a clean work environment to prevent food contamination
- Regularly taking inventory of food supplies and other products
- Reporting any problems with kitchen equipment to the manager on duty
- Sterilizing all utensils, instruments, and equipment used in sushi preparation before every use
- Communicating with wait staff to ensure that special requests and food allergy considerations are met
