Job Requirements

  • Experience working in a high-volume sushi restaurant
  • Culinary Arts School degree or certifications preferred but not required

Job Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a sushi chef or cook
  • Strong knowledge of sushi preparation techniques, including rice cooking and fish slicing
  • Familiarity with various sushi rolls, sashimi, and tempura dishes
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations and maintain focus
  • Excellent knife skills and attention to detail
  • Understanding of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication skills and a passion for food
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy items as necessary
  • Experience working in a high-volume sushi restaurant

Job Duties

  • Prepare hot and cold sushi, sashimi, sushi rolls and tempura items following established recipes and techniques
  • Ensure the quality, freshness, and presentation of food
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station and kitchen area
  • Work with a variety of ingredients such as fish, seafood, rice, and vegetables
  • Follow all food safety and hygiene guidelines
  • Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations
  • Ensure all sushi and fryer dishes are prepared in accordance with customer specifications
