The current job opening is for a full-time Sushi Chef position located in Adobe, San Jose, CA. This role is essential in preparing and presenting sushi and related food products, showcasing exceptional culinary skills and knowledge of sushi preparation and presentation techniques. The Sushi Chef will work Monday through Friday, with hours that may vary, offering a competitive pay rate ranging from $30.00 to $35.00 per hour. As a Sushi Chef with Bon Appetit, you will be responsible for combining your restaurant, catering, and special event knowledge to create an exceptional customer experience. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in sushi preparation or culinary arts
- Ability to demonstrate high-level knife and sushi preparation skills
- Food handler's card preferred
- Ability to follow corporate, state, and federal food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Capability to work flexible hours as needed
- Ability to maintain workstation cleanliness and comply with safety standards
- Physical ability to perform duties during peak production times
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience as a sushi chef or in a similar food preparation role
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
- Ability to demonstrate advanced knife skills
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work full time Monday through Friday
- Familiarity with professional kitchen equipment and safety protocols
Job Duties
- Offer a unique combination of restaurant, catering and special event experience to customers
- Demonstrate high-level knife skills and special skills associated with sushi prep, production and presentation
- Store foods in designated areas following corporate, state and federal food safety and sanitation procedures
- Ensure proper food handling, presentation, portion control and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures
- Maintain sanitation of all equipment, supplies and utensils within work area
- Clean workstation thoroughly before leaving the area
- Keep display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service to assure compliance with all sanitation, ServSafe, safety, OSHA, production and merchandising requirements
- Interact with customers to enhance dining experience
- Demonstrate a complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explain them to customers and associates
- Keep up with peak production and service hours
- Perform other duties as assigned
