Job Description
Living Room LA is a private membership club located in Los Angeles, California, offering an exclusive environment where creatives can celebrate and engage with music, art, design, and culture. As a unique destination in the city’s vibrant cultural landscape, Living Room provides a sophisticated, intimate setting designed to foster creativity and community among its members and their guests. The club prioritizes a rich cultural experience and a welcoming atmosphere, reflecting its commitment to human connection and soulful engagement.
Living Room LA is not just a hospitality venue; it is a curated creative space that emphasizes the blending of high-end service with a genuine, heartfelt approach to community and culture. Members enjoy access to a variety of unique experiences, and the culinary program plays an essential role in bringing these experiences to life. The company values team members who are passionate, empathetic, and dedicated to excellence in their craft.
The role of Sushi Chef Assistant at Living Room is an exciting opportunity for a culinary professional passionate about Japanese cuisine, especially sushi. This position involves supporting the sushi chef in preparing an exceptional and carefully crafted sushi menu that marries traditional Japanese culinary techniques with modern presentations. The Sushi Chef Assistant will work closely with the kitchen team to ensure that all dishes meet the highest standards of taste, quality, and visual presentation, maintaining the club’s reputation for culinary excellence.
The ideal candidate will be skilled in traditional sushi preparation, including nigiri, sashimi, and maki rolls, with strong knife skills and a deep understanding of ingredient quality and sourcing. They will also play an active role in maintaining kitchen cleanliness, food safety standards, and an efficient workspace. By collaborating with senior culinary staff, the Sushi Chef Assistant will contribute to ingredient sourcing, the overall sushi program’s consistency, and member satisfaction.
Beyond culinary skills, the position demands a commitment to Living Room’s core values — being human, empathetic, and soulful — to create not only food but also memorable experiences for members. The role also involves assisting in training other cooks in essential Japanese culinary techniques, thus contributing to the growth and development of the entire culinary team.
This role is perfect for a motivated individual who is enthusiastic about developing as a sushi chef within a high-end, private club setting. With 2 or more years of professional sushi preparation experience preferred, the candidate should bring a positive attitude, teamwork skills, and a readiness to learn and grow. As part of Living Room, the Sushi Chef Assistant will enjoy competitive benefits, including comprehensive health coverage, wellness programs, career growth opportunities, and a vibrant team culture that values creativity and collaboration.
