The company is currently seeking experienced Sushi Chefs and Sushi Rollers to join its fast-paced, passionate team. The Sushi Chef position comes with a $1,000 signing bonus, split into two payments—the first $500 paid after 90 days of employment and the second $500 after six months. As a Sushi Chef at IRHG, you will be responsible for preparing the highest quality sushi dishes while adhering to strict standards around portion control, cooking methods, and sanitation. You will also take a leadership role, providing training and guidance to other kitchen staff on sushi preparation and presentation techniques. Maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly work environment is a key part of this role, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations such as those set by the Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC). The position demands stamina and flexibility, requiring the ability to stand and move for extended periods, communicate effectively with team members and management, and work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum two years experience in kitchen preparation and line cook experience
  • Positive energy, be ready to assist fellow support staff and work as a team player
  • Must be able to speak, read and understand basic cooking directions
  • Ability to communicate effectively with managers, employees, and all guests
  • Flexible schedule to work days, nights, weekends and holidays
  • Constant standing/walking with occasional stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling, or lifting

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum two years’ experience in kitchen preparation and line cook experience

Job Duties

  • Accurately and efficiently prepare the highest quality of sushi for our guests, compiling consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures while assuming 100% responsibility for quality of products served
  • Provide training and guidance to other members regarding sushi culinary cooking procedures and plating
  • Prepare and present all food items, hot and cold per sushi outlet standards and norms
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary workstation area including tables, shelves, refrigeration equipment, and adhere to all DHEC regulations for cleanliness and sanitation
  • Close the kitchen properly and follow the closing checklist for kitchen stations
  • Promptly report all product shortages, equipment problems or food quality issues to the chef
