This role entails direct customer interaction as production occurs in front of customers, offering frequent samples and engaging with their questions about sushi products. The Sushi Chef must work meticulously in a clean, organized manner to maintain the highest standards of food safety and quality. Exceptional customer service skills are essential, as this position requires acknowledging, greeting, and engaging all guests consistently. Responsibilities include preparation of finfish, shellfish, and fresh produce, maintaining food safety records for sushi rice, assembling and packaging various sushi items, and crafting custom sushi rolls per customer requests. The chef also assists in training other associates, supports inventory management by ordering supplies, and ensures compliance with Food City policies as well as federal, state, and local food safety standards. This role supports the company’s marketing efforts by actively promoting the sushi program through regular sampling schedules. Attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced customer-facing environment, and knowledge of the sushi menu and ingredients are critical for success in this position. Job Duties

  • Acknowledge, greet, and engage all guests
  • prepare various finfish, shellfish, and fresh produce items to be used in the sushi
  • prepare, test, and maintain food safety records for sushi rice
  • assemble, package, and label various forms of sushi, sides, and spring rolls for sale to the customer
  • assemble custom sushi rolls at the request of the customer
  • train and assist other associates as needed
  • comply with all Food City policies and federal, state, and local food safety standards
