Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- professional training or certification in culinary arts or Japanese cuisine preferred
- minimum of 2 years experience in sushi preparation
- knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
- physical ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive motions
- attention to detail and a strong sense of responsibility
- ability to customize orders according to customer preferences and allergy restrictions
Job Qualifications
- Proven experience as a sushi chef or similar role
- extensive knowledge of Japanese sushi preparation techniques
- familiarity with food safety and hygiene standards
- ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- excellent knife skills and precision
- good communication skills to coordinate with kitchen staff and servers
- passion for Japanese cuisine and commitment to quality
Job Duties
- Expertly cutting, slicing, and filleting different types of fish
- inspecting the quality of fruits, vegetables, and fish used to prepare sushi dishes and informing the Executive Chef when quality is sub-standard
- preparing various types of sushi dishes according to established guidelines on quality, portion size, presentation, and food safety
- maintaining a clean work environment in order to prevent food contamination
- regularly taking inventory of food supplies and other products
- reporting any problems with kitchen equipment to the manager on duty
- sterilizing all utensils, instruments, and equipment used in sushi preparation before every use
- communicating with wait staff to ensure that special requests and food allergy considerations are met
