Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Culinary degree or relevant certification preferred
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a sushi chef or similar role
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Knowledge of food safety standards
- Effective leadership and team management skills
Job Duties
- As the Sushi chef, you’ll take complete responsibility for every plate that gets served and the overall direction of the menu
- You’ll be expected to innovate and iterate on the menu to provide creative, quality food while meeting profit goals
- You will be responsible for hiring and supervising the kitchen staff and coaching employees on consistency, technique and skills
- Create menus
- Direct the food prep process
- Plan & order ingredients and necessary equipment
- Arrange for kitchen repairs when needed
- Use P&L statements to effectively manage costs and meet budgets
- Hire, manage, and train kitchen staff
- Oversee kitchen staff, looking for opportunities to counsel or coach
- Foster cooperation, collaboration and respect
- Have knowledge of and enforce all safety and sanitation requirements
