Job Description
Join a renowned Northern California hospital as the Surgical Nurse Supervisor and help advance perioperative excellence by cultivating engaged teams and consistently achieving outstanding surgical results. This esteemed healthcare institution is a 150-bed, Joint Commission International (JCI)-accredited hospital and a certified Stroke Center recognized for its commitment to patient safety, superior clinical outcomes, and strong community partnerships. The hospital embraces cutting-edge surgical technology and prioritizes ongoing professional development for its staff, making it a leading healthcare provider dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care.
The Perioperative Nurse Services Supervisor role is a vital leadership position within a collaborative, innovative, and evidence-based practice culture. Within this award-winning hospital setting, the Perioperative Services department operates at a fast pace, completing approximately 40 surgical cases each day. Key service lines include a busy endoscopy unit, total joint replacement procedures, integrated cardiac catheterization lab services, interventional radiology, and strong coordination with an advanced open-heart surgery program alongside various general surgical cases. In this dynamic environment, the Surgical Nurse Supervisor plays a critical role in supporting daily operations, ensuring accurate surgical schedule execution, and facilitating exceptional same-day discharge and recovery experiences for patients.
As a frontline nursing leader reporting directly to the Nurse Manager of Surgical Services, the Operating Room Nursing Supervisor will collaborate closely with a high-performing team of nurses, surgeons, anesthesia providers, technologists, and imaging specialists. This multidisciplinary team thrives in a fast-moving procedural environment where seamless teamwork and operational efficiency are paramount. The Supervisor provides hands-on mentorship, precepting newly hired staff, and upholds clinical and service standards that reflect the hospital's commitment to excellence. Aligning team competencies to the evolving day-to-day surgical case mix is essential, as is optimizing staffing and productivity to meet patient care demands effectively.
This role also emphasizes sustaining regulatory readiness by ensuring that all perioperative practices comply with healthcare standards and accreditation requirements. Improving supply and instrument workflows is another key responsibility to enhance operational efficiency and patient safety. The Supervisor fosters strong collaborative partnerships with surgeons and anesthesia teams to continuously improve perioperative processes and patient outcomes. Furthermore, the position champions a culture of safety, inclusion, and professional excellence, promoting ongoing education, leadership development, and staff engagement within the perioperative services department.
Beyond professional growth, this role offers an unparalleled lifestyle in the heart of Northern California's scenic North Bay region. Surrounded by rolling vineyards and acclaimed wineries, the area offers rich cultural and culinary experiences, including farm-to-table dining, art walks, live music events, vibrant farmers markets, coastal escapes, hiking redwood forests, and extensive biking paths. The region enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate and convenient proximity to Bay Area amenities, providing an ideal balance of career advancement and quality of life.
The Perioperative Nurse Supervisor position offers a competitive salary along with comprehensive benefits, reflecting the hospital's dedication to supporting its leadership team. If you are a seasoned perioperative nurse looking to take the next step in your career within a supportive and innovative environment, this is a prime opportunity to lead a dedicated perioperative team and contribute to continued surgical excellence in Northern California.
