This role is a pivotal position within Five Below’s store operations team. The store leader, often acting as a manager on duty, is responsible for ensuring that all crew members deliver the BEST customer service by providing fast, friendly, and engaging interactions that wow the customer. This leadership role involves overseeing the daily store activities, training associates on company policies and procedures, managing stock receipt and merchandising, and driving sales while controlling operational expenses. The store leader also ensures that opening and closing procedures are meticulously followed, guaranteeing store security and readiness each day.
Additionally, this role demands excellent communication skills, the ability to multitask under pressure, and creativity in problem-solving to enhance both customer satisfaction and sales performance. Candidates in this role will often be physically active, handling merchandise, climbing ladders, and navigating both the sales floor and stockroom to maintain store presentation and efficiency. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum one year of management experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, overnight shifts, and travel if required
- Ability to frequently operate cash register
- Ability to move merchandise weighing up to 25 lbs and place/remove items up to 10 feet high
- Ability to frequently climb ladders and perform physical tasks such as kneeling, bending, twisting, and stooping
- Ability to communicate and exchange information clearly with customers, managers, and coworkers
- Ability to remain upright and stationary for 80% of the time
- Ability to identify and follow printed and emailed instructions regarding merchandise, schedules, and procedures
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- College experience preferred
- Minimum 1 year of management experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Job Duties
- Ensure all crew members are wowing the customers through personal contact
- Train crew on the B.E.S.T. customer service experience to ensure fast, friendly checkout
- Oversee daily activities of store associates ensuring effective performance and excellent service
- Assist with receiving, unpacking, and organizing new stock
- Act as manager on duty when needed, responsible for store operations and issue resolution
- Manage the opening and closing process including securing cash, locking doors, and setting alarms
- Support onboarding and ongoing training of associates in store policies, product knowledge, and procedures
- Drive store sales and control expenses through merchandising and staff performance
- Partner with leadership in merchandising procedures and World Recovery
- Perform store maintenance duties including cleaning and stockroom upkeep
