Job Requirements

  • Not more than two incidents involving Federal aviation regulations violations in last 5 years
  • valid state driver's license
  • fluency in English language
  • no chemical dependencies or drug abuse
  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • physically able to perform aviation safety inspector duties safely
  • good distant vision with or without corrective lenses
  • ability to hear conversational voice with or without hearing aid
  • no physical condition that risks safety in aircraft
  • possession of valid second-class medical certificate if required
  • pass FAA recurrent medical examinations
  • completion of Tier 3 background investigation prior to appointment

Job Qualifications

  • Meet Office of Personnel Management qualification standards for aviation safety inspectors
  • possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-I, FG/GS-13 level
  • demonstrate knowledge of federal aviation regulations
  • ability to monitor and evaluate compliance programs
  • leadership experience in managing inspection teams
  • valid state driver's license
  • fluency in English
  • high school diploma or equivalent

Job Duties

  • Serve as front line manager within Flight Standards International Field Office
  • report directly to IFO Manager
  • monitor and evaluate aviation programs for regulatory compliance
  • manage and lead aviation safety inspection teams
  • implement agency policies and safety standards
  • coordinate operational audits and enforcement activities
  • ensure team adheres to FAA regulations and safety guidelines
